I don’t remember the exact story of how I found out about the existence of the Fiat Barchetta, but it was through the internet quite shortly after I got my first car, a Seat Arosa, which my dad had bought for me.
The Seat Arosa was a nice driving, economical hatchback that I had a lot of fun with, and now after having sold it, I kind of wish I had kept it as a daily driver next to the Fiat Barchetta.
I fell in love with the design of the Fiat Barchetta at first sight, and once I saw the prices of the second-hand models in circulation, along with the low road tax, I was certain: I want one!
The name of the Fiat Barchetta was inspired by it’s unique design. Barchetta is Italian for “Little boat”. I don’t think it needs any explanation as to why they thought it was a fitting name.
That is how I got infected with the barchetta virus. And from that moment on, I started saving money, and started doing extensive research on the internet about the barchetta, and keep an eye out for a model that interested me on the different car marketplaces here in The Netherlands.
